Health Promotion Programs

Fitness & Nutrition
We offer a variety of alternative fitness programs weekly. Our fitness programs are non-traditional and are meant to reach those youth who don’t participate in organized sports. In the past we have offered such programs as Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Yoga, Zumba, Cross Fit and Breakdancing. All of our programs are lead by certified trainers and in partnership with various Fitness Clubs. Each program also has a Healthy Nutrition component which encourages healthy eating habits by providing easy to make snacks and recipes to participants. Guest chefs & speakers, cooking demonstrations, discussions on nutrition and health as well as cooking challenges are incorporated into our programs throughout the year.

Snack Program
Our afterschool snack program is led by a Youth Peer Leader who creates the weekly menus and prepares the snacks for our Drop In participants each day. We follow the Canada Food Guide and Safe Food Handling Procedures and youth are encouraged to volunteer in our snack program as a way to gain skills, knowledge of healthy eating and to obtain their community service hours.
